Adult Classes - FUMC offers several adult Sunday School classes and small groups with a variety of studies and perspectives for Christians living out their faith. Our Sunday School classes meet at 10 AM in locations throughout the church. Periodic small groups and topical studies are offered throughout the year. The church's calendar page, Sunday bulletin and monthly newsletter will have up-to-date course information.
Missions - As United Methodists, missions are central to who we are and what we believe a Christian should do in their call to love God and our neighbors. At FUMC, we participate in an array of missions which serve the local and global community. Our mission programs include Second Chance Society, The Little Schoolhouse, homeless initiatives, health ministries and a variety of other offerings throughout the year.
Music - Our music ministry offers ministry opportunities for members to sing in our adult choir and play in our handbell choir. Handbells play usually on the first Sunday of the month for 8:30 and 11:00 AM worship services. The adult choir provides music for the 11:00 worship service each week and music for the 8:30 AM worship service on the first Sunday of the month. Practices are held on Thursday nights: bells 6:30 - 7:30 PM; choir 7:30 - 9:00 PM. Contact: David Goodrich 954-593-5074
Stewardship -An integral part of the Christian life is the giving of our resources to serve God and our neighbors. FUMC Fort Lauderdale serves the community through a multitude of mission projects and outreach efforts that are supported through generous financial gifts and services by our members and visitors. If you wish to offer your time or talents, please send us a message through the "Contact Us" link.
GriefShare Group - The First United Methodist Church of Fort Lauderdale conducts a GriefShare Group which meets each week for fourteen weeks at 1:00-3:00 P.M. in Room #315 (please see the map on our Home page). There is free parking in the church lot. Please contact Thomas Brown at 414-248-5966 with any questions.
How GriefShare Works - It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.
GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. The sessions do not need to be attended in order. Each session is self-contained and you can begin at any place in the sequence.
