Our church is over 100 years old but our ministers are young and our commitment, as always, is to serve all ages. First United Methodist Church has remained in the heart of the city determined to provide nourishment to those who refuse to abandon the city. The rebirth of the downtown area confirms our belief in Fort Lauderdale as a community of Christians.
Our Preschool serves as a safe haven for children of people who work in our downtown. Accepting children from 6 weeks to 4 years, the curriculum is planned to prepare children for school as well as offering planned physical activities and music.
Our newsletter, The Times, is published monthly and is filled with events past, present and future. We invite you to read it. There is a lot happening during December so please click the link below so you don't miss anything! Also, visit our Advent 2011 page for special programs and services.

PRAISE THE LORD - - -
THREE WAYS FROM SUNDAY
There’s music and excitement in the air because it’s January and that signals the return of the Music Department to their regular Thursday evening rehearsals after a short rest.
There are three ways to put some music in your life: you can be a singer in the choir, a ringer in the bell choir or an instrumentalist in the orchestra. Although you can join one of these groups at any time of the year, now is a great time to start a new year.
The bell choir practices Thursday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 PM and plays once a month (usually the first weekend of the month) at both communion services. The choir practices Thurdays from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, sings every week at the 11:00 AM service and sings once a month (usually the first weekend of the month) at both communion services. The orchestra rehearses every Sunday at 10:00 AM and plays at the 11:00 AM services.
You do not have to participate every week of the year. We appreciate our snowbird musicians as well as our year round musicians. If you are interested in joining the music department, please call Director of Music and Worship Arts, David Goodrich at (954) 593-5074, speak to one of our musicians or drop by during a rehearsal!
Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD. Psalm 150 (NIV)
